Power Play by Alley Ciz

Title: Power Play
Series: BTU Alumni #1
Author: Alley Ciz
Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance
Release Date: June 4, 2019

Hockey players are off limits…especially if they’re on your brothers’ team.

The last time Jordan did that, it ended in disaster. It was easy to promise her brothers she’d never date another one of their teammates again.

Until she meets Jake.

The spark she feels when she spends time with him makes her promise harder and harder to keep.

Surely her brothers would understand breaking this promise if it means following her heart.

Wouldn’t they?

Never sleep with a teammate’s sister.

This is the universal rule of athletes everywhere.

Until he meets Jordan.

As soon as Jake sets eyes on her, he wants her.

The goalie’s job is to see missed shots and failed opportunities on the ice.

This is one shot he’s not going to miss, no matter what obstacles get in his way.

POWER PLAY is a flirty, swoon worthy sexy rom-com and the first book in the BTU Alumni series. It can be read as a stand alone. If you like hockey boys, sarcastic friends, matchmaking K9’s, too-cute-to-handle kindergarteners, fierce heroines and swoony hot as puck Alpha heroes, then you want to get to know these cast of characters. One puck head and a HEA guaranteed.

I absolutely love trying out new authors! I discovered Alley when she did a takeover in Lucy Score’s Binge Readers Anonymous, and I loved the sound of her debut release. I immediately added it to by TBR, and when I realized I could grab an unedited ARC, I jumped at the chance! I’m so glad I did!

There are a lot of really good things going on in this book. I loved the friendships between each of the characters. Not only are the members of the hockey team great, I loved Jordan’s friends as well! There are so many books to look forward to with these characters. I also loved that there was just enough suspense to keep me curious, but it wasn’t over the top or unbelievable.

Jordan and Jake were really fun characters. While they shared an instant connection, I loved watching them get to know one another and develop a friendship before anything else happened. Jordan is such a fun-loving, sassy girl. I really enjoyed watching her with the guys and seeing how she could hold her own. And Jake is such a sweetie. I love that while he is a hottie sports star, he was still down to earth and genuinely a good guy.

I also loved the balance of hockey and romance in this book. We got to see them work as a team and how that carried over to their friendships. It really enhanced both the story and the character development.

This is a great series introduction as I’m already invested in so many characters and can’t wait to see them all find their happy endings! I’m looking forward to reading more by Ms. Ciz!
